I have 2 kids in their late teens and I observe how they consume social media, how they trawl through endless pages of drivel on Instagram and TikTok with no care whatsoever or even a nod to the quality of what they are looking at. Does this mean then that quality and attention to detail is dead?
I certainly hope not, but I am afraid it does mean that there is a danger that the new generation of creatives think the quality is a bonus rather than a necessity. The speed and appetite for quick throwaway content also mean that there isn’t enough time or desire to get the best out of a creative process. I do think however that there are enough young trailblazers being mentored by us OG’s to understand that every pixel, every composition, every storyboard and fundamentally every idea has to be built on a foundation of creative understanding and quality technical skills, otherwise, it will fall down and have no longevity, and that really matters.
It matters because the person consuming good quality creative content and well thought out advertising will remember the idea and the execution more than some absolutely obsolete content. (But don’t get me wrong there is a power in influencer marketing that I totally get). I sound like an old stuck record when I preach my thesis of quality content and quality control, and I insist that the team at Domeble live and die by that mantra, because I know that it will always lead to better creative, and always engage the viewer, which let’s face it, is why we all became creatives in the first place.
We have an inherent belief at Domeble that we provide our clients with the best content available to license anywhere in the 3D, CGI, VR and Visualisation sectors. We know from our client feedback and return custom that they want great imagery, great 360° HDRI’s and great immersive scenes, because it means that what they produce will be even better. So does attention to detail really matter – you bet it does!
